BMFT is very proud to announce that our very own Dr Martin Lee, who has been a member of the British Team since 2006, is attempting to kayak around the British Isles to raise money and awareness for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.
Dr Lee, 32, will soon be embarking on a career as a consultant Rheumatologist. In 2012 he is attempting a 2,600 mile solo kayak circumnavigation of the UK mainland in order to raise £100,000 for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). He intends to break this down into 100 marathons in 100 days of paddling starting on 1st April.
NRAS are a charity that provides support and advice for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Rheumatoid Arthritis is a condition that causes joint pain, stiffness and swelling and can lead to significant deformities and disabilities as well as life threatening complications. His interest in Rheumatology comes from spending time with his Aunt, who suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis and has inspired him to attempt this challenge.
Further information about this ultra-endurance event and how you can help me reach my target bysponsoring me can be found on my website at http://www.martinkayaking.co.uk/. BMFT wishes Martin the best of luck in his challenge.
